Ronnie out of Dublin after disappointing defeat to Steve Beaton
06/10/2009
Ronnie crashed out of the Skybet World Grand Prix suffering a 2-0 set defeat against Steve Beaton.
Ronnie never really got going as the short format and double start seemed to work well for Beaton, who only dropped 1 leg in the match and setting up a round 2 match against Irish start Jacko Barry.
Despite missing early doubles, Beaton took the first set without reply hitting double top for leg 1 and double 8 in leg 2 despite a 180 from Ronnie. Steve then hit his own 180 in leg 3 and went on to take double 10 to win set 1.
Beaton carried on in set 2 going 1-0 up on double 8, before Ronnie finally had a dart at a double in leg 2, only to miss 4 darts at 18's and 9's as the Warwickshire born Beaton went 2-0 up. Ronnie then hit top's to give himself a chance at a come back, but the next leg saw Beaton hit the same double to send himself into round 2, and Ronnie out of the competition for 2009.
