Baxter targets Premier League return

15/08/2009

Ronnie Baxter is targeting a return to the 2010 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts. Baxter will provisionally move up to 6th after the World Championship, and the top 6 automatically earn a place in the tournament.

Ronnie's form this year has been good, and 2 semi final appearances at the Blue Square UK Open and the StanJames.com World Matchplay has pushed Baxter into contention.

He was last in The Premier League back in 2006 only missing out on a play-off place after losing to Colin Lloyd on a dramatic night in Reading which went to the final game.

The provisional PDC Order Of Merit for January -  comprising of prize money won over a 2 year period from January 2008 - would see Phil Taylor remain top of the rankings, James Wade would stay 2nd, ahead of Raymond van Barneveld, with Terry Jenkins and Mervyn King making up the top 5. John Part who is currently 4th will drop from the top 16 should he not have success during the autumn.

In-form Colin Osborne would have to make £17,000 plus to leapfrog Ronnie and earn a Premier League debut.
