Baxter fights back to earn a draw against Wade

11/03/2010

Ronnie battled back from three legs down to grab a draw against James Wade in night 5 of The Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts at the M.E.N. Arena Manchester.

Wade won the opening leg, however Baxter drew level in style with a 121 checkout on leg 2. Wade then took the next 3 legs, moving 4-1 up. Ronnie landed a 180 in a 14 darter to win leg 6, and a 13 darter to claim leg 8 after Wade won the 7th with a superb 11 dart leg.

Baxter fought back and levelled the game with a double 16, but Wade regained his composure to hit a 14 dart leg to secure a minimum of a draw. His hopes of claiming a first win were smashed however as The Rocket started the deciding leg with back to back 180's and although the 9 darter went begging, Ronnie took the leg in 11 darts to secure a point.

"I'm happy to get a draw and it's another step towards the play-off's, which is where I want to be. My average of 104 shows that my hard work in practice is paying off. I'm focused and happy with how it's going this season."
